The goal of our “Discovering Nature” Adult Learning Program is to provide visitors to Riding Mountain National Park and those living in the surrounding region, with the opportunity to take part in workshops and programs that instill in them a greater appreciation and awareness of nature and the environment. Parks Canada, Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC) and Friends of Riding Mountain National Park are teaming up to teach hundreds of people how to camp during this year’s “Learn-to Camp” program. There is a great desire to celebrate Riding Mountain National Park and the community of Wasagaming amongst the families who have spent their summers here, created traditions here, and celebrated life here, sometimes for generations. These individuals and families have a place in the heritage of Wasagaming and the Park and there is a need to commemorate that.
