Friends of RMNP is launching a new fundraiser – the Animal Resistant Container project (A.R.C.) for your home or cottage.
Friends of Riding Mountain National Park is a volunteer non-profit, charitable organization that works with Riding Mountain National Park of Canada to “promote and provide opportunities to increase public awareness, appreciation and enjoyment of the natural and cultural heritage of Riding Mountain National Park of Canada.” Initiatives like the new A.R.C. project enable Friends to provide financial support for research programs in our area and offer education programming for children and adults.
Why an Animal Resistant Container? The most important way to minimize human-animal conflicts is to keep garbage and yard waste locked away. Unsecured landfills and commercial and residential garbage bins attract animals of all shapes and sizes. Once an animal gets a taste of human garbage, it will routinely approach communities and other developed areas in search of food. When this happens, the animal is deemed a “nuisance animal” and measures are taken to rectify the situation, usually at the animal’s expense.
Manufactured by Inventronics (a Brandon-based metal fabrication business) our Animal Resistant Containers (A.R.C) are designed to deter animals from getting into your garbage or yard waste.
