Riding Mountain National Park Heritage Walk & Endowment Fund
Celebrate Your Special Connection

There is a great desire to celebrate Riding Mountain National Park and the community of Wasagaming amongst the families who have spent their summers here, created traditions here, and celebrated life here, sometimes for generations. These individuals and families have a place in the heritage of Wasagaming and the Park and there is a need to commemorate that. Parks Canada has recognized this and has partnered with Friends to create a permanent tangible connection with this special place.

The Heritage Walk is a path of 200 granite stepping-stones beside the Visitor Centre’s perennial garden border. Each stone can be purchased to celebrate individuals, families, events and organizations. The stones can have an inscribed name and short personalized message celebrating the purchaser’s connection to the Park. The stones are intended to be celebrations rather than memorials.

A volunteer community committee will approve all applicant eligibility and the stone’s text. The first section of the Heritage Walk was installed during the summer of 2008, as part of the Park’s 75th Anniversary Celebrations.

Each stone’s $3,000.00 price includes the stone’s manufacture, inspection, continued maintenance and contribution to the Clear Lake Endowment Fund, which will maintain the Walk and contribute to local community initiatives, which will be sponsored by the Fund’s community committee. A minimum of 50% of the total cost ($1,500.00) is required with each application. A tax receipt will be issued for the Clear Lake Endowment Fund portion of each stone’s cost.

Only 200 Heritage Stones are available. Complete your application form today!
